Our People Philosophy

Texans is committed to providing an environment where employees are valued, treated with respect and dignity, provided the opportunity for learning and developing their careers, and compensated fairly for their contribution to the company.

This philosophy is expressed through several talent management programs and processes.

Talent Acquisition

We believe it is our duty to Texans Credit Union, our members and the individual seeking employment with us to make sure that each person we hire is the best fit for the company and for the job. With that goal in mind, we ascribe to a rigorous screening and selection process. We expect that the job applicant will take a close look at us too, to ensure that we are a good fit for him/her.

Talent Training and Development

The decision to hire you will be based on your skills, experiences and fit for the job and our company. We will need to train you on the Texans way of doing things. The first training you will receive will be our new hire orientation training. During this 2-day experience, you will learn all about your benefits as a full-time Texans employee, as well as receive extensive information on the history of Texans Credit Union, our culture, a company overview and our strategic business plan. During your first few months you will participate in required legal compliance training as well as job specific training. Your training and development is guided by your manager and is supported by a dedicated team of training consultants from the Training and Development Team.

Performance Management

You will be provided with informal feedback on your performance on a monthly basis and formal documented feedback at least three times in your first year and annually thereafter. This feedback will let you know how you are performing your job specific responsibilities, your projects and goals, how you are doing at embodying our values and member service standards and how you are progressing in your development.

Total Compensation

We take a total compensation approach to attracting, retaining and rewarding talent. Our employees total compensation package is driven by:

  • Each Employee - The skill and performance of the employee.
  • The Market - We compare our total compensation package to the market in which we compete to ensure that it is competitive.
  • Texans' Mission, Vision and Values

The components of total compensation include:

  • Base pay
  • Bonuses and incentives
  • Full-time employee benefits
  • Retirement savings
  • Other discounted credit union services

Periodically we provide our employees with a total compensation statement. Employees are amazed when they see the total value of their employment with Texans.

Pay-For-Performance

Texans follows a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. We compensate employees based upon their performance and contribution. Texans' total cash compensation package is comprised of base pay and bonus/incentive pay. The package is set to align with the competitive market for similar positions in our marketplace. Employees may increase their base pay by meeting or exceeding established performance expectations. Likewise, the bonus/incentive compensation you earn will be based upon your individual and team performance.

Employee Benefits

Texans provides an employee benefits program that is very competitive in our employment marketplace(s). Some of the benefits are provided to employees at no cost and the costs of other benefits are shared with the employee. We closely monitor all aspects of our benefit programs to ensure good service to our employees and to assure that costs remain reasonable and that the benefits offered are meeting the needs of our employees and their families.
