Saving at the Pump
Work Smarter, Not Harder
Combine your errands to save gas. Set aside a block of time to visit the grocery store, the post office, or wherever you need to go all at once. Reducing the number of trips will help you save on gas and time.
Stretch Your Mileage
Many vehicles today offer an eco-mode that helps you get more miles per gallon. Often this is an automatic feature, but sometimes you have to manually turn the feature on. If your vehicle is equipped with a manual eco-mode, start hitting that button every time you get in your vehicle.
If your vehicle is equipped with a sport mode, or other speedier option, make sure this is turned off as it can reduce your miles per gallon.
Don't Wait to Fill Up
Waiting until you're nearly out of gas to fill up increases the chance that you'll have to settle for a higher price at a nearby gas station. When your tank is about three-quarters empty, locate a low-cost gas station in your area to ensure you aren't overpaying.
Check Prices and Use Discounts
There are many gas-finding apps that check the price of local gas stations and show you the real-time prices based on the type of gas you use. Many of these apps will also give you discounts or cash back for linking your bank accout or uploading receipts to confirm your purchases.
