Courtesy Pay & Overdraft Protection FAQ

You may choose to opt-out of Courtesy Pay for one-time and nonrecurring debit card transactions, ACH and check transactions, or both. To opt out of Courtesy Pay, please give us a call at 972.348.2000 or visit your local branch.
Courtesy Pay is a service that protects you when the available balance in your checking account and designated Overdraft Protection account is insufficient to pay a transaction, up to $750.
Overdraft protection is a service that transfers money from a designated savings, money market, or line of credit to cover transactions that would otherwise overdraw your checking account. Think of this as your first line of defense.
There is no limit to the total number of fees that may be charged for overdrawing your account.
Most Texans Checking Accounts automatically have Courtesy Pay for checks, Bill Pay payments, and ACH payments, but in order to have coverage on (one-time and non-recurring) debit card and ATM transactions, you must let us know (opt in). You can opt in by visiting a local branch, online, or giving us a call at 972.348.2000. Please allow up to two (2) business days for your Courtesy Pay preferences to be updated, from receipt of request.
Courtesy Pay is a discretionary service, which means your (one-time and non-recurring) debit card purchases and ATM transactions are not guaranteed to go through and Texans Credit Union reserves the right to not pay a transaction.
If you already have Overdraft Protection set up with your savings, money market or line of credit, we continue to use those methods before we use Courtesy Pay.
We typically don’t pay overdrafts if your account is not in good standing, you are not making regular deposits, you have had excessive overdrafts or your account has not been open for at least 30 days.
